Augustana players Lenke & McDermott honored
Augustana College Women's Soccer players Rachel Lenke and Bridget McDermott were honored at the team's annual awards banquet for the 2009 soccer season. The team had an outstanding year, finishing with a 20-2-1 record after advancing to the “Sweet 16” in the NCAA Division III tournament for the first time in school history. The Vikings had a perfect 7-0 record in College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin play in winning their first overall championship ever. The Vikings also won the CCIW tournament title with a 1-0 win over Illinois Wesleyan.
Rachel Lenke was one of six players from the team named to the Academic All-conference team. As a freshman Rachel saw action in 15 games this year, finishing with 4 goals for a total of 8 points.
Bridget McDermott was give the Most Improved Player award. Bridget, also a freshman, saw action in four matches and logged 174 minutes and recorded six saves and was 1-0 with one shutout.
Elite Soccer is very proud of both of these former Arlington Aces Academy players. Great work girls!
